Road Trip and July 1st! (part 8)

Otherwise known as the day we all got soaked
and had to just figure it out!

So it pretty much rained all the next day,
and I don't just mean a little rain.

It poured.

I was getting cagey so I went for a walk following
the river all the way to a historic site
close to the campground.
It was a good thing I cleared my head!

It rained so much it called for shower caps!

Eventually everyone and everything
was just a soaking mess.

We drove into revelstoke to the rail museum,
to get dry and waste some time.

then irony of all irony we got stuck at a
train crossing trying to get back to camp.

Thank goodness Shane had just
bought his propane firepit!

It sorta kept things warmer. But not really dryer.

Later that night it was decided we were going to
strike camp a day early, as the next day was
looking like even more rain.

Tomorrow was full of striking camp,
saying goodbye to friends,
and driving home.

Rainy Camping (aka making the most of things!)

So I almost called this post the camping trip where
NOTHING turned out the way we thought!

But I'm focusing on the positive.
like these kids definitely were!

There was lots of Snuggles and Hiding out from the rain
in the tent singing and playing games.

There were still plenty of Super Fun Camping Adventures!

Like Hiking!
(we just wore All the layers we could find!)

Yummy Camp Food!

And even some unexpected adventures,
playing new games in the van!!

Camping in the rain was definitely a challenge,
I'm glad our kids are resilient!

Ward Campout

This was a fun rainy crazy time and we were sure glad that we came!!

During a dry spell the kids all made marshmallow shooters.

They loved experimenting, decorating and
even chasing each other around!

There was lots of cozy campfire time to be had, as well as
games and movies and all kinds of fun!!

It was almost easy to forget all about the thunder,
lightning and loud rain.

That gave us good excuses to be hiding out in our
sleeping bags telling funny stories and watching
puddles gather on the tent fly.
