july pond walk

Most Sunday evenings in the summer we take
our kids on a walk to the pond.

This Sunday we had a wonderful walk.

This funny moth attached itself to ms. E's pant leg.

We bumped into friends, fed the ducks, and watched
the muskrats fight for their fair share.

We even got to point out to Shane the baby coots.

july shane's birthday

Surprise, surprise, we're camping for Shane's birthday!!

Tether ball was a great hit with the kids.

Of course there were campfires and smores!

Holy Cow did we have a ton of fun at the lake, swimming and boating.

The big slide was tons of fun!

Shane sure loves pushing his girls in the water!

We took some time to paddle too!

Ms. A LOVED paddling alone in her kyak!
(Who's surprised? Not me!!)

This girl just loved the dirt and the sand!

Ms. C was a trooper and tried it all!
Until she fell asleep.

 See that mound.
She sat right there for hours making her mound just right!

More splashing on the water trampoline.

Lunch is served!

Eventually we had to head back to camp.
Boooooo.

Later at dinner we started to see all the sunburns!
Yikes!

We relaxed for most of the night and some
of the kids even tried boccee.

And some prefered to just lay down and be left alone!

 I even got to read!
That's a major win for me!

Smores were started a little early as everyone was a bit tired.

This kid a little more than all the rest.
He just laied down and passed right out!

Some of the kids lasted till dark and had a
grand glow stick party
around the fire.

The next morning was a little more chilly.
Thank goodness!

Although some were eager to get down to the beach,
the wind was high and it wasn't in the cards.

Instead we headed out to find the hoodoos
on a hill behind the campsite.

The rope section was really quite challenging.
But we can do hard things, and
we continued on the trail.

The moths just love this girl!

After our hike the kids needed to see the water
to agree that it was probably not a beach day.

Only one problem, somewhere on that
lovely beach we lost a soother.
Duh, Duh, Duh.

So after a quick packup we took all 5
sunburned tired kids home.

With Ms. C screaming most of the way.
Delightful way to end such a wonderful trip!

Happy Birthday Old Man!
It was a Gooder!
