Ms. A turns 11!

This was a crazy time.
We were sick right after Christmas most
of the way through the month of January.
It just cycled through our house!

While we were recovering Grandma Cathy
came to visit for Ms. A's birthday.

She introduced the girls to thrift stores.

We took her to our favorite skiing spot in Devon.

And Generally wore ourselves out having fun!

Eventually we got this birthday girl a party with friends.
Seriously three weeks late.
It was the  22nd!

After my kids turn 10 their celebrations change.
They get to choose a family experience
or and experience with the family.

Ms. A Chose to go to the WORLD WATERPARK
with two great friends.

We're really lucky we have such a great girl.
And that she has such great friends.

Happy Birthday MS. A.

January Goals 2020

So usually to start the year I have a BUNCH of ideas about how
I can improve and make my life perfect!!
Like way too many.
So many that it all falls apart before it even gets started,
aaaand I get feeling defeated and frustrated.

Plus then there's supporting family goals, and kids goals,
and lets not get started on hubs goals!

 This year is no different,
20 goals for 2020 sound familiar?
It sounded really appealing to me.

But this year I'm trying something new.
I'm thinking more long term about my goals.

One thing that usually happens is after the rush of October
through Christmas I'm usually really restless in January.
I make big plans to be SUPER productive all year.

Forgetting that I usually like to travel, play outside, garden,
adventure and read during the summer. Instead of sit at a
computer, sew, bake, or sometimes even cook dinner.
SHHHH don't tell.

So this year I tried to be realistic about what I actually
could accomplish and how I was going
to go about doing that.

So here's my list of goals for 2020.
And no there are not 20 haha.

#1 go on a date with one of my kids each month!

#2 Go on a date with Shane each month.

#3 Read 2 fiction books and 1 non fiction book each month.

#4 Stay current with family blog - never more than a month behind.

#5 Complete writing project I began over a year ago.

#6 Complete at least 5 Naked Baby Princess Stories

#7 Sew one table runner a month.
(confession I already had two completed.)

#8 Sew 3 full sized quilts.
(confession I already had one
completed ready to quilt.)

#9 Sew Primarily from my stash.

#10 Explore more local trails and pathways with the kids.

#11 Road trip to the Columbia Icefields this summer.

#12 More week night biking, skiing, skating, and

That my friends is it!

December New Years Eve

This year Christmas brought a round of sickness
that lasted most of January!

But for New Years Eve we still headed out to
Tanner Camp for the day and enjoyed some
awesome activities out there!!

Ms. A was excited to make fresh tracks with snow shoes!

She was also super eager to try out her new camera!

Ms. E didn't last long in the snow shoes but she sure had fun in the snow piles!

This girl just wanted cuddles most of the day!

We sat around the fire talking about goals.

Eventually people were hungry.

My awesome adventure girl
helped me haul the food down.

We giggled and made up stories and tried to
stay away from the smoke.

Shane had to work a little hard to keep it going.

 Then he broke a chair!

This girl spent most of the afternoon just scraping snow off this stump.

Eventually this girl just curled up and slept.
(she was a little under the weather
so sleep is amazing!)

Ms. A was in heaven because there was sandwich ham.

Ms. A spent some time imagining that she could recycle the chair into something.

A boy and his fizzy pop!

In the end we had a great day!
We were all cold and tired.

Everyone helped get it all back away in the end.
We love our outdoor family.
