May and June Date nights!!

DATE NIGHT!!

So Exciting most months,
but in may Date night kinda got swept under the rug!!

Mostly because we were so focused on our AMAZING
week long trip to Vancouver with the girls!
(Which I haven't posted about because
I'm still going through all the pictures!)

Our May date was a drive in movie
where we created cardboard box cars
and watched Greese while eating popcorn and drinking pop etc.
(gonna store this one away for another time)

Instead of dwelling on the missed date in May I'll move right along to June!!

June was choose your own adventure date.

The date started with some planning
(because lets face it we're just not that spontaneous)
We decided which envelopes we were going to draw from
In our case event, dinner, and lovin' envelopes.

Each envelope was filled with different options for that part of the date.
On our date Shane drew mini golf, trying a new restaurant,
and lingerie and sparkling cider.
(Oh la la I know sounds fantastic doesn't it!!)

There was also an envelope for breakfast and one for lunch
so you could make it an all day date!

So off we went after my AMAZING sister came to put the girls to bed
-she's just awesome-

We opted to get dinner first and then go mini golfing after!!

We took a 2L of pop that was still not gone from Fathers Day
and some plastic glasses so that we could eat picnic style!

Shane suggested we try chicken wings from Legendary Wing King!

SUPER YUMMY!

We ordered Sweet Chilli Heat - which were amazing - and french fries
which were actually huge potato wedges!

We ate in the car like a couple of teenagers and talked about Shanes school
and his research for a future business he is hoping to build.
Which I loved because the last time he had talked to me about it,
it was 1130pm and I was exhausted!

The balance of the rest of the night we discussed how we could turn
this business from a HE to a WE adventure.
Not so much so that I could feel involved as much as so that I could feel like
I was helping him, not holding him back!!

We had an amazing time and it felt like I was actually completing my sentences!
(aka loving an adult conversation not revolving around the kids)

I am sooo looking forward to July's adventure.

Fathers Day

I have to admit that Ms A is just getting to the right age
where Holidays are SUPER FUN!!
So I am usually excited for each one and explaining
what kinds of things we can do and what it all means.
I also have to admit that I was not as prepared as
I could have been for fathers day!!
Literally the Thursday before I was calendering
something else on our family calender
and found that Fathers Day was that very Sunday!

YIKES!

(Thank goodness for Pintrest and awesome kids who love Elmo
so they could give me a chance to find something amazing for Shane.)

We ended up surprising dad with some nice treats and a grand prize.

#1 was that Dad got to sleep in!
(it was only 30 minutes but it still counts in our house)

#2 were some fun sugary snacks!!
(thanks to some ingenious blogs for the silly wrappers,
totally not taking credit for those)

#3 Two Books
(which he already knew I had purchased for him)

#4 the GRAND PRIZE a
vacation/babymoon
booked for August in
Fernie BC.
(he can ride his bike and I can sleep)

It also happens to be booked for the weekend of our 5 year anniversary.
So it is also his anniversary present!
(TADA! So proud of myself!)

He also got steak and mushrooms for dinner,
 which he loved!

I am really looking forward to the trip to Fernie!

Our summer is just so packed that I knew if I didn't plan something for us
to get away the fall would be here and there would be thanksgiving,
then Halloween, then birthday, then baby, then Christmas,
then new years, then birthday#2!!

Sometimes the months of October to January are just a huge blur!!

Hope your family had a fabulous Fathers Day too!!

The Big Announcement

Well since my last post there have been some very fun things happen in our little family.

One being the announcement of an addition.
We are expecting in late November.

Now as with every life changing decision there is a lot to think about.
This pregnancy especially.

Early in the blog I wrote about my desire to be real on my blog
and not just be rosy and sunny!
So this post is a little sweet and sour.

Although I am Very excited to have another little soul join our family . . .

 - I AM SCARED -

Some days just the thought of having three babies,
makes me sit down and take a moment to get a hold on myself.
There are days when My 3 year old tells me over and over
she does not want any more screaming babies in her house.
(and I just about sit down and bawl)

There are days when I feel blessed that we can even have babies.
(There are so many couples who struggle to even conceive.)
There are days when I wished that people didn't equate my
skinny pregnancy with a healthy pregnancy!
(apparently because I'm skinny I must not be having any trouble or
feel like I'm carrying a watermelon, OK so maybe right now just a basketball.)
There are days when I know in my heart this baby already belongs to this family!
There are days when I marvel at the things that come out
of peoples mouths to pregnant women!!!!
(aka. when someone announces she is pregnant it is probably best
NOT to tell her you knew it all along?
So am I fat or do I look like death warmed over
and should just head back to bed.)
There are days when I watch my girls play together and laugh so hard I cry.

There are days when I want a poster that reads.
"I am hoping for a healthy baby with no delivery complications.
So please do not ask me if I am hoping for a boy or a girl!!
There are moments when I catch my 3 year old admiring a baby.
(Although she tries to pretend she isn't)
There are days when I just wish my body and my babies
would simply let me sleep through the night.
There are days when I am o.k. with letting go of all the guilt
when my house is in shambles.
There are days when I wish I had something tactless to say back
when people tell me I look tired and should sit down!!
(besides a sarcastic THANKS)
There are days when I realize and am in awe at the process my body
and this baby's body go through in a short 9 months.
(Freaking biological miracle that's what babies are!!)
There are days when I look at my pile of dirty dishes in the sink,
the cheerios on the kitchen floor and the piles of laundry sitting all over my house
that I sit down and decide, Tomorrow is soon enough.
There are days when I do not regret my decision to stay home with my children
and be their caregiver all day and all night!!
(I do however feel that I have been working an 80hr work week)
There are days when I am simply grateful that when I fell asleep on the couch for
20 minutes my 3 year old did not kill or harm herself in any way.
There are days when I want to proudly state that "Rearing Children is NOT a Science!"
(and burn all the free parenting magazines that are geared more towards
advertizing and promoting breastfeeding than actually helping parents cope)
There are often days when I start feeling my husbands
60hrs/week work/commitment schedule.

There are days when I want to scream out loud
"MY HEALTHY HAPPY CHILDREN BOTH
DRANK INFANT FORMULA,
NURSING IS NOT FOR EVERYONE!!!"
There are days when I feel completely overwhelmed by the
enormity of my responsibility as a mother.
But there are also days when I know I have been blessed so much
as a mother to understand the responsibility and the opportunity
that being a mother brings my way.
To learn and teach so much more about love and forgiveness and
being Christlike than I knew was possible.
To learn that Daddies have it rough too.
(Just because they are not delivering a baby does not mean
they do not feel the weight of their responsibility!!)
To learn that I am not alone in this awesome enterprise
of raising "good" kids.
(there will always be that triangle of support between
Myself, my Husband and my Heavenly Father.)

In Short - having this baby causes some inner turmoil -
but with a little patience I am hoping to turn it
into a whole bunch of growth!!
