April Joseph Date Night.

We went on a date!!
One of our kids was in a production of Joseph
and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat.
It was fun and silly and he did AMAZING!
No regrets.

It ended up being a two for one.
They did The Lion King first.
It was so cute.

All the actors were quite young and they did
both the shows in two hours!

Date Nights

OK Disclaimer time.

#1 None of these ideas are mine,
they all came from a lot of diligent searching on the  internet.
Great clean sites that I stumbled upon like,
www.thedatingdivas.com and
www.loveactually-blog.blogspot.com and
of course a host of Ideas From Pintrest.
(too many to track back.)

#2 With money non existent I planned a lot of things that
could be morphed for at home or going out.

So with that out of the way here's my years list of date nights.

January - Digi-Free and Doughnuts
February - Black Love Letters - Blacking out all the words on
a book page except the ones needed to make a
sappy love note/letter!!
March -  Swimming - Hot tub at the pool - or a hot tub
at home with bubbles.
April - The Symphony - Dress up and listen to classical music.
May - Canoeing - Imaginary at home or on the river downtown.
June - Making Memories - Video of us recalling memories
from the year.
July - Puzzle Solving - Race to solve kiddie puzzles.
August - Rollerblading - I think you can get it.
September - Painting - Giant portrait painting.
October - Pumpkins or Apples - taking the family to
the U-pick Farm.
November - Card Shark - Playing Card Games
December - Christmas Lights - Hot chocolate and a car ride,
(with or without kids).

There you have it!!

Enjoy.

November and December Date Night and YEAR RECAP

November Date night was kinda fun - we had a game night!!

A FLAMES GAME NIGHT

We don't have cable now and one of the things Shane
said he would probably miss most was hockey.

He does not ever complain but sometimes I know
he still misses the game.

So we got in our jerseys and streamed some extremely crappy
CBC coverage of the flames game and gorged ourselfs on game food!!

It was fun.

December we watched the Nutcracker with the girls
 on Youtube over two nights!!

So now to recap the year - some were missing and
things got harry especially with the move!

But we made the effort which is what is important!

March - True Colors Date - Did not end up the way I planned -
good thing we love eachother!!
April - Library Date
May - Bike Date
June - Off the Grid Weekend
July - Bike Date
August -Temple
September - Ice Skating Turned into
(Rollerblading and Hot Chocolate)
October - Temple
November  Game Night
December - Ballett - We found the Nutcracker on Youtube
and watched it with the girls over two days!!

So Turns out I didn't blog so much about this so I'm considering
just posting the list this year!!!
Probably more effective and to the point!!

Next up is Hudsons top 10 for 2013!!

May and June Date nights!!

DATE NIGHT!!

So Exciting most months,
but in may Date night kinda got swept under the rug!!

Mostly because we were so focused on our AMAZING
week long trip to Vancouver with the girls!
(Which I haven't posted about because
I'm still going through all the pictures!)

Our May date was a drive in movie
where we created cardboard box cars
and watched Greese while eating popcorn and drinking pop etc.
(gonna store this one away for another time)

Instead of dwelling on the missed date in May I'll move right along to June!!

June was choose your own adventure date.

The date started with some planning
(because lets face it we're just not that spontaneous)
We decided which envelopes we were going to draw from
In our case event, dinner, and lovin' envelopes.

Each envelope was filled with different options for that part of the date.
On our date Shane drew mini golf, trying a new restaurant,
and lingerie and sparkling cider.
(Oh la la I know sounds fantastic doesn't it!!)

There was also an envelope for breakfast and one for lunch
so you could make it an all day date!

So off we went after my AMAZING sister came to put the girls to bed
-she's just awesome-

We opted to get dinner first and then go mini golfing after!!

We took a 2L of pop that was still not gone from Fathers Day
and some plastic glasses so that we could eat picnic style!

Shane suggested we try chicken wings from Legendary Wing King!

SUPER YUMMY!

We ordered Sweet Chilli Heat - which were amazing - and french fries
which were actually huge potato wedges!

We ate in the car like a couple of teenagers and talked about Shanes school
and his research for a future business he is hoping to build.
Which I loved because the last time he had talked to me about it,
it was 1130pm and I was exhausted!

The balance of the rest of the night we discussed how we could turn
this business from a HE to a WE adventure.
Not so much so that I could feel involved as much as so that I could feel like
I was helping him, not holding him back!!

We had an amazing time and it felt like I was actually completing my sentences!
(aka loving an adult conversation not revolving around the kids)

I am sooo looking forward to July's adventure.

Date Night and Valentine #8

Date Night

Well this month was a pajama date night.
So Relaxing and nice to be low pressure!!

Shane and I had some previous conversations about
spending all night with our phones on or playing games
without actually talking to each other for most of the night.

I had also thought about creating a conversation jar.

Questions to ask to start conversations when you are at a loss.

So we sat at the kitchen table and read some of the questions
to each other as we cut them out and put them in the jar.

Shane Decided we should keep score and so we played
the Newlyweds game, trying to guess each others answers.

As you can see I won he he!

After we had done all the cutting we could stand,

we dished our selves some ice cream and strawberries,
and vegged on the couch for the night.

Now we have a lovely conversation jar for our family

and enjoyed each others company for the night and
Shane got a little bit of pity for his sickness.

Valentine #8

A most ridiculous glass of water,
Shane was still under the weather this morning
so lots of water was in order.

After his first nap he found this!!

My bag of tricks is getting smaller!!
Valentines Day will soon be here!

Date Night and Mini Bowties

One of my favorite Christmas Projects that I worked on was
a binder full of date nights
One a month for the year!
(With the disclaimer that these were aside from
anniversaries, birthdays, and other holidays)

I got this lovely idea from Pinterest and
took some time researching some fun dates and
was really happy that I had found so many fun Ideas to Stay In!!

Friday was our first date night
(Super Secret Agent Date)
and we had a really great time!!

We put the girls to bed, Got all dressed up and
with Shane's super secret agent mission instructions
the date was on!!

First was a super secret spy test
(a scavenger hunt)
which lead to the weapons needed for the next part of the date!!

Mini Donuts and Mini Cinnimon Rolls
FOR BATTLESHIP!!

Which was so much fun - After playing a game
(WHICH I WON!!! MWA HA HA HA HA!!)
we relaxed for a bit and then watched Chuck.
(rediculous spy show in which nerd becomes super spy)
During which we drank milk and ate our feast of battleship treats!!

It was a grand night and I am soooooo happy that
Shane is excited to be doing this every month!!

I also finished a SUPER CUTE project for a friend who just had a baby
- Super Cute Little Boy -
Which is also super self explanatory.

The original from Pinterest called for snaps
but I was impatient and used hot glue and Velcro!!

Made me wish I had a reason to have some mini bow ties of my own!!
