Halloween Costume walk

Halloween Day we went on a walk with
some friends down by the river.

We spent some time just trying to break ice,

Guess who finally cracked it?

This unicorn found the best sticks.

We saw some amazing things on this walk.

A Bald Eagle soared right over top of us,
Ms A found a bone in the rocks,
Guess what she's doing for some of
school next week?
And some great Blue Jay watching
happened too.

Were Sure grateful for friends to come with us on adventures!

Halloween!

Our ward hosted a socially distanced Trunk or Treat,
which my kids loved as they really wanted to
get to know new kids in the ward.

Shane was also pretty excited to
wear a costume somewhere.

Ahem here I am sewing for Ms. A
the day before Halloween!

Our trunk or treat trunk.

Se our Franken Cone.
Seriously my Favorite!

Mr. T was Crash Bandicoot

Ms. C was both Elsa and Anna under her sweater.

Ms. V was a full body unicorn.
My sewing pride and joy this Halloween.

Ms. A was Bruni from Frozen 2 and Ms. E was
Dorothy from Wizzard of OZ.

They had a grand time.
It could have ended there.
But it didn't!!!

Here they are on Halloween night!
Ms. C decided she wanted to be Pikachu instead tonight.

They didn't go very far.
We had friends from across the street come sit with us
around the firepit and hand out all three houses candy
from one place.

It was so fun.

Here's their candy haul by the end of the night.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Ava wins the prize!

Our local library had a story contest for Halloween.
Of course our resident writer had to try and enter.

The experience stressed her out a little as the
deadline drew nearer.

But unexpected inspiration struck
and she had an entry.

 She won a prize too!!

She was over the moon about it and felt
so validated in all her writing.

Great job Ms. A!

October School

Here's a peek into what our kids got up to
for part of their school this month!

Ms. E made Apple Fritters.

I think I added this to Septembers school post too.
 oops, I promise she actually
made them in October.

We were reading a super silly book for read aloud,
Called The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.

Which focuses on a statue by Michelangelo.
So we tried making art on the ceiling(ish).

The kids loved it.

They were in awe of the Sistine Chapel as we watched
an anniversary special about it on YouTube.

We got to talk about how long it would have taken,
how he would have got up to the ceiling,
how much paint it might have taken,
and there were other questions I couldn't answer.

Like did he have any help, not just apprentices but people
to hold paint, mix colors, move scaffold etc.

Such good questions.

Cobble Flats

Okay this day was such a crazy one for me.
I didn't have a good homeschool
day right before this.

So It was like therapy today.

For some reason Mr. T decided he needed
to stick right close to me.

When I desperately needed space.

At least this girl was in a good mood.

And this girl made a huge ice ball in the snow!
Seriously bigger than her.

Aaand you can see how windy it was.

The kids had a grand time.

Truthfully I stayed in my funk
even though eventually I got
the space I needed!

Later we spent some time on the ice before finally leaving.

It was a good outing and driving home,
I finally found the peace I needed to face
another day of home school.
