January Goals 2020

So usually to start the year I have a BUNCH of ideas about how
I can improve and make my life perfect!!
Like way too many.
So many that it all falls apart before it even gets started,
aaaand I get feeling defeated and frustrated.

Plus then there's supporting family goals, and kids goals,
and lets not get started on hubs goals!

 This year is no different,
20 goals for 2020 sound familiar?
It sounded really appealing to me.

But this year I'm trying something new.
I'm thinking more long term about my goals.

One thing that usually happens is after the rush of October
through Christmas I'm usually really restless in January.
I make big plans to be SUPER productive all year.

Forgetting that I usually like to travel, play outside, garden,
adventure and read during the summer. Instead of sit at a
computer, sew, bake, or sometimes even cook dinner.
SHHHH don't tell.

So this year I tried to be realistic about what I actually
could accomplish and how I was going
to go about doing that.

So here's my list of goals for 2020.
And no there are not 20 haha.

#1 go on a date with one of my kids each month!

#2 Go on a date with Shane each month.

#3 Read 2 fiction books and 1 non fiction book each month.

#4 Stay current with family blog - never more than a month behind.

#5 Complete writing project I began over a year ago.

#6 Complete at least 5 Naked Baby Princess Stories

#7 Sew one table runner a month.
(confession I already had two completed.)

#8 Sew 3 full sized quilts.
(confession I already had one
completed ready to quilt.)

#9 Sew Primarily from my stash.

#10 Explore more local trails and pathways with the kids.

#11 Road trip to the Columbia Icefields this summer.

#12 More week night biking, skiing, skating, and

That my friends is it!

December New Years Eve

This year Christmas brought a round of sickness
that lasted most of January!

But for New Years Eve we still headed out to
Tanner Camp for the day and enjoyed some
awesome activities out there!!

Ms. A was excited to make fresh tracks with snow shoes!

She was also super eager to try out her new camera!

Ms. E didn't last long in the snow shoes but she sure had fun in the snow piles!

This girl just wanted cuddles most of the day!

We sat around the fire talking about goals.

Eventually people were hungry.

My awesome adventure girl
helped me haul the food down.

We giggled and made up stories and tried to
stay away from the smoke.

Shane had to work a little hard to keep it going.

 Then he broke a chair!

This girl spent most of the afternoon just scraping snow off this stump.

Eventually this girl just curled up and slept.
(she was a little under the weather
so sleep is amazing!)

Ms. A was in heaven because there was sandwich ham.

Ms. A spent some time imagining that she could recycle the chair into something.

A boy and his fizzy pop!

In the end we had a great day!
We were all cold and tired.

Everyone helped get it all back away in the end.
We love our outdoor family.

January New Year New Goals

Welcome 2019!

Seriously Though,
I'm super excited for this year
to get going already!

Over Christmas break I had some
serious goal mojo going on!
Like SUPER goal mojo!

My husband can attest that this little notebook became
my best friend for like an entire week.
(I'm not even exaggerating!)

So time for some real talk.

Every year I make goals and they are all good goals,
like exercising, getting out of debt, getting up early,
magically becoming a patient person?
Any of this sound familiar?

I was thinking about how many time's I've made
the same vague goals year after year.

A LOT!

Seriously I think I have a goal to
magically become patient
like every year for the last ten.
(Since that's how old ms. a turns this year!)

This year was going to be different.
This year I took my goals and I made a plan.

Ha ha!
Now I've got you interested right!!
Here's the thing I broke it down,
 every goal I made
I broke down in to smaller pieces.

This is what took me all week.
Making a plan!

So here's Page Number 1!
My Goal Page.

Seriously this seems like a lot!
Here's what my Monthy breakdown looks like.

Still looks like a lot.

After this I put them all in my Planner.
It still looks like a lot!
But once I did a few of the things on the list,
others were so related that it came naturally.

For instance getting up at 6am.
So hard when it's dark and cold!
(and the baby was screaming
a ton in the night.)

But when I do, I can have my own
prayer and scripture study,
make my kids breakfast,
and even unload the dishwasher
some mornings.

One goal at a time we're making some progress!

By the way did you spy my theme for the year?
Less But Better.

That's Right, I'm going to do LESS and say no more
to the things that I don't really like doing
and don't actually have to do.
Which makes it easier to be BETTER
at being a Mom and a Wife.

(Too bad this doesn't quite include saying no to the dishes!)

As part of my goals I'm going to be doing better at this blog!
(yes I have others, shhh.)

My goal this year is to never get more than a month behind!!
Think I can do it???
