Skiing

We were planning on taking the kids skiing one afternoon in Kaninaskis.
Um the highway was so blown over and crazy that we turned around.

We decided that Bragg Creek might be best.

Aaaand it was.

But that also meant we spent over an hour
in the van just to get to West Bragg.

Usually a 35 minute drive.
The kids weren't that impressed.

Thankfully these cute books had just arrived.
So they were keeping busy mostly with coloring.

Once we hit the trail it was mostly better.

I stayed with Mr. T in the rear as usual.

Ms. V was flying down the ski trail so
she could get back to her mountain
of snow by the van.

Shane had the firepit out and we styed around
for a bit to warm up and eat treats.

Happy Christmas Eve Eve.

High Rockies Ski

We headed out early to ski a section of the
High Rockies Trail in Lake Louise.

It was SUPER cold that morning, some of the kids
confessed they were not properly prepared.

Shane ended up turning back quite quickly
with ms. C, Ms, V, and Mr. T.

The big girls and I skied for about an hour longer before
deciding it was time to turn around.

Good thing I had tons of lunch in the van to keep them occupied.

That and they got to watch a team of Dog sleds set up and leave on the trail.
That was so cool too.

We passed them on our way back, and it led to a discussion
about tourism, and what they would rather do.
Ride and let someone drive?  or
Learn to control the sled and drive your own.

It was still frigid when we left, but it was like something
out of a story book out there, or a post card.
It was dreamy quiet and sparkly fresh.

We decided we needed to have a family meeting
about dressing appropriately for skiing.

Shane takes Ms. C skiing

Some mornings when we sit around the breakfast table
Shane opens up his skiing for anyone
who wants to join to come with him.

One morning Ms. C was the only one who wanted to go.
He loved taking her all by herself.

Really her skiing is just her sitting in the sled
and he burns more calories pulling her in the sled.

Makes for great memories.

October skiing

We had some early snow and Shane had
some great skiing adventures.

One in particular was a day Ms. E decided
she wanted to join him.
What a fun date!

She is an amazing skiier,
and knows how to giggle and
be silly all the way down the trail.
what a fun time!!

family day skiing

Welcome to the Freeze!

The week of family day was after the beginning
of three weeks of freezing!

For a week straight I had dropped off and
picked up the kiddo's for school.
This is rare - I tell you what!

But when it is -25 and feels like -36
kids stop walking to school.

Tuesday after family day we took the
kids out cross country skiing.

haha we chose tuesday becuase it was only
-15 that day instead of -25.

Obviously it made a big difference to the girls!

There is a set of tracks right close to the church,
we love to explore them at night.

I love our brave girls!!

February Valentines Day

Well we don't always do lots for Valentines Day around here.
But this year we did get to go on a date!

We did some child care swapping with friends and it was great!

We went cross country skiing all by ourselfs.

It was stupid cold all week, but we endured it to be together!

We came home and cuddled by the fireplace to warm up.

Happy Valentines Day everyone!

January Skiing

This was Super Fun, first ski of the year!
But, why oh why do my kids have to grow up so fast???

The girls took off so fast it was hard to keep up with them!
Shane was trailing the little girls and tried hard but
they are speed demons on skis this year!

Ms. V tried hard but was soon just frustrated.
Good thing it's a big sled!

I was happy to stay behind with Mr. T for most of the time.

Okay so we got a Wii this year for the kids,
Mr. T was immediately trying to do jumps and
tricks like one of the games.
It was awesome!

Have I mentioned how much I enjoy being the caboose?

Oh and I was trying out a new coat from my mom!
It's amazing! Thanks MOM!

About half way around the loop the girls thought they might
try a different part of the trail and ski a little longer.

Then they decided it was just better to head back
to the van with all the rest of us.

Dad to the rescue!

These girls were definitely ready for
some lunch and a warm van.

There were loads of sandwiches,

and Ms. C loved roaming around in the back seat!

These kids and their cute shenanigans!

So grateful we get to do this as a family!

february skiing

Our first Skiing adventure in Edmonton!!

Gold Bar Park.

Shane had taken the girls a couple of different nights
to ski with headlamps.
They loved it.

Mr. T had his first experience on big dude ski's.

Ms. V and Callie got to lounge in the sled still.

Haha!
I love this dude he tries soooo hard.
