High Rockies Ski

We headed out early to ski a section of the
High Rockies Trail in Lake Louise.

It was SUPER cold that morning, some of the kids
confessed they were not properly prepared.

Shane ended up turning back quite quickly
with ms. C, Ms, V, and Mr. T.

The big girls and I skied for about an hour longer before
deciding it was time to turn around.

Good thing I had tons of lunch in the van to keep them occupied.

That and they got to watch a team of Dog sleds set up and leave on the trail.
That was so cool too.

We passed them on our way back, and it led to a discussion
about tourism, and what they would rather do.
Ride and let someone drive?  or
Learn to control the sled and drive your own.

It was still frigid when we left, but it was like something
out of a story book out there, or a post card.
It was dreamy quiet and sparkly fresh.

We decided we needed to have a family meeting
about dressing appropriately for skiing.

Road Trip and July 1st! (part 2)

Some of us got up really early Saturday morning
as the men had a grand plan
to bike part of the High Rockies Trail.

Most of my day was actually spent in the car.
We brought the baby with us really early,
and my amazing friend brought the rest
of the kiddo's out to meet us in
Kaninaskis later!

Oh the stories they could tell after.

While they were biking we played at the playground
at Mount Kidd Campground, got awesome icecream,
and danced at the amphitheater.

Pretty soon it was time for the majority of the kids to head home.
I got to continue driving around waiting for the men.

Lucky for me Ms. A and Ms. C were with me.

Before we got super bored because the men
were extremely late, we went to the
Peter Lougheed Park discovery and Information Center.

Conveniently it had closed 15 minutes before we arrived.
We took a little walk down the paved interpretive path outside anyway.

I'm sure glad this girl was with me.
We migrated between Canyon Campground,
and the day use area at upper Kananaskis Lake.

Eventually we found them, and they found us.

Then they were happy to be chauffeured home.

And full of all kinds of stories and stats.

Some of us were REALLY DONE being in the car!

Thank goodness the next day was Sunday!
