During Grandma and Grandpa Webster's Easter visit
we received news that My Grandma Broadhead
had passed away.
It was both sad and a relief, she was experiencing
some dementia, and was quite lonesome for her sweetheart
who passed away several years ago.
The dementia wasn't helping with the loneliness,
a bad combination right there.
So at the end of April we found ourselves making
a dash to Cardston for the funeral.
We left rather early and stopped for breakfast at Tim Hortons,
which the kids thought was a real treat.
mmmm bacon.
Silly kids.
Another stop to investigate some bridge graffiti.
Just before lunch we stopped in Lethbridge
to visit Auntie D. at the dress shop.
The kids had a very full day after we arrived at Grandmas.
She treated us to a marvelous breakfast the next morning.
Ms. C was a little shy and tired.
Ms. A was a good helper and got the fruit all set pretty,
before it landed on pancakes.
We found a quiet spot for lunch Saturday before the kids
needed to sit down for the formal funeral service.
It's hard for littles to sit still and quiet for so long,
it's hard for Dad's too sometimes.
They did really good, I didn't ask them to come out
to the graveside service,
so they could get some of their wiggles out.
I was sure glad they had decided to stay warm,
it was pretty cold.
My mom was a trooper, glad she has some great support!
Funerals are never easy, and grief mixed with
decision making is never easy.
The Luncheon after was filled with laughter and fun.
I am so grateful for my extended family.
This tired girl was winning hearts all over the place.
Late into the night we played at our aunt's farm.
This little girl got some pretty swell giggles going.
She sure loves her grandpa.
Sunday we went to church and I thought a lot about
Grandma and how even now I can hear her
stern but loving voice in my head.
The flowers were beautiful, and my girls were
honored to receive some.
After the church the kids patiently waited for snow
to calm down so we could go home.
They were super happy to be going home.
