Today is the day the last day of school, goodbye to another year
of kindergarten and goodbye to another school.
The drill is actually getting pretty old now, I feel bad for Ms.A
and for her friends and her teachers.
Separation is just hard. All kinds of hard.
Especially when you're just 6!
I learned just as much as a parent as Ms. A did being a student.
I don't remember what the big deal was about our morning -
but it was rotten and I was determined to make her afternoon better.
but it was rotten and I was determined to make her afternoon better.
MUCH BETTER.
Ms. A was so mad at me she charged into the school
without kissing me goodbyeand didn't look back.
It was a heartbreaking moment as a Mom, I felt like a
without kissing me goodbyeand didn't look back.
It was a heartbreaking moment as a Mom, I felt like a
failure watching her walk into school this morning.
I should have been rejoicing and doing a happy dance with her . . .
The last day of school!
It should be awesome and filled with anticipation.
Not this frustration and regret that I was holding on to.
We had a super successful Kindergarten year!
Ms. A had fine tuned her reading skills and was
zipping through reading tests,
exploring chapter books and getting excited about
information books,
biology, science, and even history.
All of my anxiety about boredom and her emotional response
to things that are hard could be put into
a completely different context for the next 2 months.
Mom's probably never stop worrying over their children,
I knew that Summer meant a lot of exciting things like
moving (again) and camping and sprinklers and
swimming and grandma visits.
There would be hurdles sure but not the same kind
or on the same scale as school.
I wanted summer to start with a bang not a grouchy pout.
Of course by the end of kindergarten she was happy as a clam
with stories to tell and full of excitement for summer.
I don't even remember what we did that afternoon
to make up for my grouchy morning.
(I'm sure it involved Timbits though!)
