Christmas Aftermath!! (ode to parents)

Well we were super spoiled this Christmas and
as fun as it was to be receiving so much love and kindness
I was a little bit overpowered and overwhelmed by the cleanup required
and the brain power it took to find appropriate places for everything!!

Not just the toys but also all the things for Shane and I as well!!

Maybe it is partly because of the size of our family
or that ms. A and ms. E are growing up!

I recognize that it is only going to get worse with more kiddo's!

I found myself thinking about the work of parents
with more than one kiddo . . .
not just on Christmas Morning but also
everyday tasks like
building dinner and bedtime routines,
instilling lasting values,
and teaching young children to complete chores.

So knowing that about a thousand experiences like this
will continue to happen and this is the reality of parenting
I acknowledge my inexperience and naivete.

And so from a slightly overwhelmed Mom I tip my hat
to the amazing parent's everywhere who do their very best
and smile through their overwhelming task and somehow manage
to find a little joy in their parenting experiences!

Here's to knowing it's worth it!!

= very busy Christmas time!!

We love Christmas and all the family and the traveling and party's.
The girls did pretty good this year with all the stimulation.
Some days it was just good to be in the car so they could

December Date night and Date Nights in Review!!

December Date Night!!
OK so I admit it the last thing on my mind around Christmas
was keeping this blog up to date - so my new years gift to you is
a plethora of new posts.  Starting with our December Date Night.

STAR WARS DATE!

This was one of my favorite nights I had planned and
I kept it for December.
(ahem so not saving a favorite for December this coming year!!)

I have no idea how this has come to be but for some reason
it seems like Christmas = Star Wars or Die Hard or
Rambo or Lord of the Rings.
Shane says its because Christmas vacation is the only time
you can sit and watch them in succession if you really want.

Well I promise that date night only consisted of 1 Star Wars movie
not a marathon, and Shane was even a gentleman
and let me pick which one I wanted to watch.
(oh how sweet!  Turns out he had just watched a few of them
earlier in the week so he didn't really care at all!!)

But we did have some spectacular fun!

We watched Episode V The Empire Strikes Back

Courtesy of my cheese-tastic taste and some Pintrest ideas
we had some yummy treats!!

Chocolate Wookie Cookies
Chocolate Thermal Detonators
Vadar Veggies
Ewok Forest Ranch Dip
Light Sabers
Pudding to Choose your side
(chocolate or vanilla)

Mr. T decided he wanted to join the fun when
we broke out . . . . wait for it . . .

STAR WARS MONOPOLY!!

They beat me in the end but they had
a man advantage over me!!

This was another relaxing date night and ends our
first year of awesomeness!

Here's a recap just in case you missed one!
February Pajama Date
April Star Date
September zoo date
November superhero date
December - is right here!

I had such a great time putting this together
and enjoying Shanes surprise when we opened
each envelope throughout the year.

Stay tuned for our 2013 dates!!
I'm Excited!!

Baking Day

OK so what would christmas be without TREATS?
Both our family's have instituted a baking day where we get together
all day and bake fun treats to share with our Visiting Teaching and
Home Teaching family's as well as friends from the ward and
work and of course Shanes Boss/Bosses depending on the year!!

This year I forgot my camera when I went to my mom's but
I learned my lesson and remembered to take it to Shane's mom's!!

The girls had a fantastic time!!
Baking in pj's who wouldn't enjoy that?

Ms. A teasing Daddy dressing up in his stuff!

Eating Gingerbread dough!!

It just so happened that Baking Day also coincided with a visit from

Uncle Darryl

who the girls love secretly
(aka take a bit of time to warm up to).

They loved making all kinds of bugs with him!!

Poor relatives from far away they love the girls so much and
my girls are just a bit cautious.
Thank goodness not quite as cautious as me!!

 Mr. T even enjoyed himself!!

Cranky face needed some nutrition to combat all the treats!!

Must have been an awesome day when we pulled into the
drive and the girls look like this!!
