News Again.

So we have some BIG family news.

We are MOVING!! AGAIN!

Shane's boss is such a wonderful person to
give us options that,
although they may be hard,
benefit us ultimately as well as the business.

So There's a lack of work in Edmonton right now,
and she spoke to us in February about the
possibility of our family moving back to Calgary
and for Shane to be part of the Calgary team.

We spoke favorably about it,
then there was a world wide pandemic,
school was cancelled,
Shane worked from home,
we officially decided to home school,
Shane went back to work,
and then she circled back to there being
more opportunities for work in
Calgary in the near future.

We we waiting for a while for
everything to be official.

Here we are again, moving.

I confess that I am secretly hoping to move outside the city,
as the Calgary team all work from home,
now Shane will be as well.

There are some options like Airdre, Okotoks,
Chestermere, and Cochrane.

The only problem is Small town rent is usually a lot more.
We'll see what is even available right now.

Updates will come soon.

Road Trip and July 1st! (part one)

Warning, this was our epic summer trip so there
will be numerous posts about this trip!!

So we are on our way to Revelstoke for
our family road trip and amazing bucket list
experience for Shane!

Hang Gliding!

But I'll get to that in future posts this was a
week long trip full of super fun adventures!

Now some back story.

Grandma Cathy turned 60 in march and
decided that what she desperately wanted
for her birthday was to go hang gliding
and to take any of her kids
who wanted to go.

Think Shane can turn that down - never!

So it took all his will power to not be in charge of this trip.
I love him dearly but he has serious control issues,
especially when it comes to the outdoors.

There were numerous nights where I reminded him
it wasn't his trip and he needed to just sit back
and do his best to do what he was asked.

It was a great trip, and we found lots of ways
to make sure our kids had as much
awesome activity as Shane.

Part ONE!

We packed up our stuff, LOTS of stuff, and got ready to hit the road!

Before we left every girl got her camp braids.
(They really didn't last long.)

Ms. V wanted three braids.

All squished in the back!

This girl apparently likes to travel in her swim suit!

Playing pass and play risk on dad's phone.

We're off!

Our first night of the trip we spent in Calgary with friends!
The same friends who let us stay with them before the funeral.
(They are awesome and we love them!!!)

We rolled into the city and had a great time visiting.

We got to stay in their tent trailer,
and most of the kids had slumber parties inside.

The next day we had a crazy day in Kaninaskis,
the boys went biking and we waited
around all day for them.

But that's in the next post!

May Hiking

The smoky weather wasn't going to keep us from being outdoors
while we were headed to Calgary already.

We played with friends the night before.
Board Games, and Trampolines.

We decided to take the kids to troll falls.
We had attempted this a long time ago,
it did not turn out as well as
this adventure did.

Picking up walking sticks along the way.

Exploring the Teepees made of poles.

Crossing the river over and over.

Some of us took the safer route.

The girls loved playing on this one.
(It was ridiculously stable.)

The big kids loved the falls.
The smaller ones just thought they were loud!
(They were right, it was loud!)

We went back down to the fork in the trail to try the upper falls.

First a test of water depth!
Even though the river was calm there, it was deep!

Another pole structure to explore.

Viewing the top of Troll Falls!

Some tricky sections.

A little hut dug in the hill.

Clearly some are having more fun than others.

Upper falls!!

Even this girl thought it was awesome!

And she found the snow her favorite!

This girl was a trooper, until she felt the cold snow.
Then it was all over.

We loved spotting chipmunks along the trail as well as flowers.

The girls thought it was super funny when I told them
these orchids were called lady slippers.

This was an excursion for the record books.
We even ran into some friends from Edmonton
on the way back down!

So glad we took the time to do this as a family.
