We decided to spend some family time in the
Mountains in February.
Johnston Canyon
This is a super popular hike and it did not disappoint,
the incline was doable and the kids found
interesting landmarks all along the trail.
My only mom problem was the snow pack was so tall
on the trellis part of the trail the kids would slip
from time to time and their feet would slide
right under the railing.
Not even close to falling under
but be still my momma heart.
We loved exploring the cave and getting
so close to the first waterfall.
There were plenty of people on the trail
heading to the top to climb the ice falls.
We didn't make it that far.
(Someone needed the bathroom
at the trail head, dispite assurances
she was just fine before we left.
This mom learned quickly.
next trip we'll just insist they alllll go!)
Mr. T and Ms. E loved being towed by the sled,
Ms. E actually walked most of the way she
really only wanted to be in for the steep declines.
When we got back to the trail head we were treated
to an awesome dumping of snow. It is hard to describe.
It was like a blizzard but no wind.
Soft snow falling fast and fluffy everywhere!!
It was amazing!
While we got everyone situated and prepped
some lunch the kids enjoyed the
snow plow piles in the corners of the parking lot.
Mr. T especially enjoyed
catching snowflakes on his tongue!
We'll be back and we're determined to make it
to the top to watch the ice climbers!
